Born in London and educated at UCS Rupert then studied Classics at King’s College, Cambridge. From there he continued to Harvard where he spent a year as a Harkness Fellow in the Philosophy of Law. A spell at City University followed where he undertook a law conversion course and then onto the Inns of Court School of Law before becoming a Pupil Barrister at Fountain Court Chambers. In 1988 he became a Teaching Fellow at Stanford Law School. This was followed by a position of Corporate Associate at Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco and London, and then a Litigation Associate role at Lovells. He moved to GlaxoSmithKline in 1995 rising to Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 2001. In 2008 he moved to BP as Group General Counsel, with worldwide responsibility for legal matters. In 2017, he moved to Reckitt Benckiser Group plc as Group General Counsel and Company Secretary. Back to Search
