Peak performance takes practice

Over the weekend, Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, pupils participating in the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, completed a practice expedition in preparation for the official expedition this coming June.

They tackled tough terrain with determination and grit, all while honing their navigation, teamwork, and first aid skills. Through problem-solving and resilience, they thrived in the great outdoors, facing challenges head-on and emerging stronger and more confident.

Despite being challenged by tough terrain, they all performed exceptionally well and shone like silver in the moonlight. One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity to witness the Northern Lights, a truly magical experience that left all participants in awe. The stunning landscapes and picturesque locations such as the Three Shires Head provided the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable adventure. Hiking through fairy-tale-like forests and dipping their feet in crystal-clear streams, pupils were able to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connect with nature in a meaningful way.

When asked about their favourite aspects of the trip, students highlighted the stunning landscapes, being with friends, the great weather, and the friendly instructors. They enjoyed the beautiful views, the campsite facilities, and the overall experience of being in the countryside.

Mr Liddiard-Williams, one of the staff members present and an instructor, had this to say
I am incredibly proud of their dedication and progress and look forward to seeing them succeed in the next phase of their DofE journey” It was truly a recipe for success mixed with a dash of fun and a sprinkle of magic.
