GCSE Results Day 2025: Outstanding Results and Bright Futures for UCS Pupils

Despite the grey skies, our brilliant Year 11 pupils shone decisively this morning as they gathered on the Frognal steps to celebrate their GCSE results, having combined to produce UCS’s second-best year on record.

We are delighted to share their exceptional achievements, including an outstanding 91% of entries awarded top grades (7–9), 75% at grades 8 or 9, and an impressive 47% gaining the highest grade, 9.

In total, 120 UCS pupils sat their GCSE examinations, 40% of whom achieved exclusively 8s and 9s, while 12 pupils attained a complete set of 9s. The whole cohort should quite rightly be very proud of their successes.

Among the many excellent subject-area results, Modern Languages, Maths and English were particular standouts. Remarkably, 80% of all Maths grades awarded were an 8 or 9. French, meanwhile, scored as the best-performing language, with 60% of all grades being a 9; although, with Spanish, German, Italian and Mandarin combined, an amazing 80% of all grades were an 8 or 9.

Welcoming pupils on the Frognal steps this morning, UCS Headmaster Mark Beard said: “Huge congratulations to our Year 11 pupils on these fantastic results; it has been wonderful to share in their excitement and pride today. GCSE results day always brings a real sense of opportunity, and our pupils should feel excited about continuing with the subjects they love and shine in – subjects that will challenge, inspire and energise them in the Sixth Form and beyond. Behind every success lies the dedication of parents, carers, teachers and many others; but today is above all about celebrating the individual accomplishments of our pupils. I am genuinely excited to see what these young people go on to achieve.”

Many of the pupils’ opening results this morning reflected on the support, both academic and pastoral, that had helped them along the way. One such pupil was Rahul, who celebrated having received a full set of 9s. He said,I’m still in disbelief. I’m really happy with my results today.”

Another pupil, Charlie, achieved a fantastic set of results, securing seven 9s and three 8s. Charlie, like nearly all of our Upper Remove boys, will be staying on at UCS for his A Level education, studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Charlie chose these subjects as he aims to study Aerospace Engineering at University, and has his eyes set on applying to Cambridge.

Henrik spectacularly scored nine 9s and one 8. When we spoke with Henrik, he told us, “I’m so pleased with my results. I was a little worried, but seeing nine 9s and just the one 8, it made my day. I’m very happy” Henrik also plans to stay and study his ALevels here at UCS. He has chosen Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics. Henrik intends to study Artificial Intelligence at university. When asked why, he followed up, “Technology is changing at a fast rate, and AI is a prominent part of our future”

Stewart Fitzgerald, Assistant Head (Head of Middle School), also joined in the celebrations. Having overseen this cohort’s development from Year 9 upwards, he said: “These excellent results reward the considerable hard work of a year group who embody so much talent, energy and ambition. These pupils fully deserve their success. They impressed me with their approach to the whole exam season, and I am really delighted for them. Now they will be ready to impress at the top end of the school.”

The vast majority of our Year 11 pupils will now go into the Sixth Form at UCS, being joined by around 70 girls from different schools across London. A Level results were announced last week for the UCS Class of 2025, which saw 74 pupils score straight A*–As. Meanwhile, 30% of grades awarded were an A*, 72% of grades an A* or A, with 93% of all grades at A*–B.
