We are a community choir open to all with close connections with UCS. Under our charismatic Musical Director, Simon Walton, we perform a wide variety of choral repertoire working with professional soloists and orchestral musicians. In recent Autumn and Spring concerts, we have performed works by Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Verdi, Bernstein and Rutter. The Choir also organises an annual “Come and Sing” day in support of a partner charity, and lighter concerts in the Summer.
New members are always welcome and no audition is required. We devote half of each rehearsal to learning the detailed music in sections before practicing together as a full choir and the ability to read music, although helpful, isn’t essential. Enthusiasm, the ability to sing in tune and a willingness to do some homework between rehearsals are our only requirements. We meet on Wednesday evenings during term time at UCS’s Music Lecture Theatre.
