UCS Sixth Formers Shine with Outstanding A-Level Results

A-Level results were announced today for the Class of 2025, ending weeks of anxious waiting. Celebrations on the steps of UCS in Frognal followed, where pupils gathered to congratulate one another and reflect on their achievements earned through hard work and dedication to their studies. We are delighted to report that an impressive 74 pupils scored straight A*–As. Meanwhile, 30% of grades awarded were an A*, 72% of grades an A* or A, with 93% of all grades at A*–B.

UCS’s Head, Mark Beard, commented: “We are extremely proud of this year’s students, not only for their outstanding academic achievements but also for embracing opportunities across the school and instilling the spirit of UCS with a distinctive, gracious tone. They have shown dedication to their studies while taking on leadership roles, contributing to school life, and supporting their peers. It has been wonderful to see them develop as well-rounded individuals, ready to face the challenges of university and the wider world with confidence and integrity.

Students achieved excellent grades across many subject areas, ranging from more traditional subjects such as Economics, Physics and Languages, to the Creative Arts – which were a particular highlight with 100% of students studying Art, Drama and Music achieving straight As and A*s.

Students are now eagerly awaiting their next steps in life, beyond Frognal. Most applied to study at prestigious UK or international universities, with popular UK destinations including Oxford, Cambridge, Leeds, Durham, Bristol, Bath, Edinburgh and St Andrews; as well as an uptick to top London institutions Imperial, UCL and LSE.

The school’s focus on intellectual curiosity and academic enrichment naturally leads UCS pupils to pursue various undergraduate courses that reflect their individual passions. This year’s courses span diverse fields including entrepreneurship, environmental humanities, product design engineering, Chinese & history, earth sciences and environmental engineering, alongside long-established choices such as Mathematics, Chemistry and Economics.

Further strengthening our expertise in international applications, 18 pupils secured offers, some accompanied by highly prestigious scholarships — from leading institutions across North America and Europe. These include NYU, University of Southern California, Toronto, Boston, McGill, Bocconi and IE Madrid.

All prospective medics and dentists were placed. One such pupil was Arman, who achieved A*A*A and will study Dentistry at Queen Mary’s. “I’m going to miss so much about UCS. I’m going to miss the teachers, my friends, the library, the campus, lunches. Just, everything

George is heading to Cambridge to study Computer Science. He was awarded A* A* A A, and offered this advice for younger pupils. Focus on your university entrance exams, don’t take them lightly, however be careful not to overstress and burn yourself out“.

Maya, who is also heading to Cambridge to study English, achieved A* A* A A in English Literature, Politics, History, and Philosophy. She commented that she is excited to join Cambridge but will “miss her friends and the UCS community so much.”

A common thread in the pupils’ celebrations was the invaluable support they felt from their teachers and from each other throughout the year. Mia, who achieved A* A* A* A in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and DT, echoed this There was so much support from our teachers, the sixth form staff – so much more than any other school I know. I’m going to miss having such a caring group of teachers

Mark English, Vice Master, joined pupils in their celebrations this morning, saying, “It’s wonderful to see so many students achieving such fantastic grades and securing places at some of the best institutions. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the ways in which they have developed as people during their time with us.
