13+ entry for September 2020, 2021 and 2022
The process for 13+ (2020) entry concluded in Spring 2018 and the process for 13+ (2021) entry concluded in Spring 2019. A Waiting List is being held for both these cohorts, and parents of boys who are on the list will be duly contacted in the event of an offer of a conditional place being turned down or withdrawn.
The deadline for applications to join at 13+ in 2022 has now passed. This process will conclude in Spring 2020.
Advice for families who have applied for a 13+ place in September 2022
Candidates will sit an Entrance Examination by late November. This will take the form of the Common Pre-Test (or CPT), which is administered by the Independent Schools Examination Board (ISEB). ISEB also administer the Common Entrance examination taken by prep school students in Year 8. The test is online, adaptive and is taken in the familiar surroundings of your son’s existing school. It consists of four parts and takes about two-and-a-half hours to complete; English (25 minutes), Mathematics (50 minutes), Verbal Reasoning (36 minutes) and Non-Verbal Reasoning (32 minutes). This test is used by a number of other London independent day schools, but boys sit the test only once, regardless of the number of such schools for which an application has been entered.
The results of this examination will be important in deciding the candidates asked to return for our Interview and Taster Day. As well as giving the boys the opportunity to sample life at UCS by taking part in a classroom activity, they will meet with a member of the teaching staff for a short interview. The classroom activity will take the form of paired or small group work leading to a discussion or summary presentation to a senior member of staff. A confidential report is requested from each candidate’s current school and plays an important part in the assessment procedure. Please note that all offers of places are conditional upon acceptable performance in Common Entrance examinations taken in the boy’s prep school at the end of Year 8. A Waiting List is held, and parents of boys who are on the list will be duly contacted in the event of an offer of a conditional place being turned down or withdrawn.

Advice for families of boys presently in Year 5 and below (academic year 2019-20)
Families with boys presently in Year 5 (2019-20) or in younger year groups are advised that from September 2021, we will increase the size of our Year 7 (11+) intake. We anticipate that there will be approximately 45-50 places available at 11+ annually from that date onwards.
Inevitably this means that owing to the constraints of our campus on Frognal, we have had to take the difficult decision to remove Year 9 (13+) as a point of entry to UCS from September 2023 onwards. As such, we are no longer accepting applications to join UCS at 13+.
Applications to join UCS at 11+ in 2021 are now open, via the 11+ applications page.
