World War II Reunion

Wednesday 5 June 2013, 10:30am to 2:30pm, UCS Junior Branch

Every year, the JB holds a World War II Day, where the Year 6 students experience a day as a pupil during the war, including food, dress, bomb shelters and more.

In 2013, we will invite those Old Gowers who were at UCS during the war years to take part in this history day. This is a great opportunity to relive memories, to meet other Old Gowers with similar experiences and to share these experiences with current pupils. Included in the day will be an opportunity to tour the School.

Geoffrey Carrick Memorial

Old Gower and former UCS staff member, Geoffrey J Carrick, sadly passed away from pneumonia on Sunday 17th February. UCS will hold a memorial service for him in the Great Hall at the Senior School on Sunday 9th June.

Geoff attended UCS from 1939 to 1943 and returned to teach in 1950. He retired from UCS in 1987. He had a tremendous impact on the development of UCS during his 37 year career and will be sadly missed by the entire UCS community.

Old Gowers Summer Drinks Party

All Old Gowers are invited to our annual summer drinks party at the School on the evening of Thursday 13th June.

Two important members of the School will be retiring at the end of this academic year: Kenneth Durham and Roy Hyde. Mr Durham has served as Headmaster of UCS for seventeen years, and Mr Hyde has been an integral part of the Classics and Philosophy Departments since 1976. Both have made a lasting impact to the School, and we look forward to celebrating with them in June. RSVP here

Old Gowers Summer Telephone Campaign

8 to 22 July 2013

The UCS Development Office is pleased to announce that we will be running a telephone campaign in July. Our team of pupils and recent leavers will be calling a selection of Old Gowers to find out about their time during and after school, as well as to seek important suppoert for continued fee assistance and building works, so we look forward to speaking with you soon.
