David Lund (UCS Staff 1967 – 95)

david lund 2UCS has received the sad news that former teacher, David Lund, passed away on Sunday, 30 May, 2010. After a long battle with Parkinson's Disease, David contracted a severe chest infection in the last few of weeks of his life.

David taught English at UCS from 1967 until 1995 but was also responsible for organizing the first jazz concert in the Lund Theatre in 1975.  Subsequent concerts brought the likes of Eddie Thompson, James Moody, Bud Shank, Al Haig, Ruby Braff, Jay McShane, Ray Bryant, Adelaide Hall, Blossom Dearie and many more to UCS. He was a gifted musician often being heard playing jazz in the Great Hall on his breaks.

David was passionately interested in his pupils and was never heard to raise his voice in his English classes. He was a keen runner and organized several Fun Runs for charity.

David's brother Peter notified UCS that the funeral will be held on Thursday, 10 June at 11am in Hampstead Parish Church. At a later date this year a service to celebrate David's life will be organised.  UCS will post details when they are available.

Please contact Helen Sender on 0207 433 2310 if you would like further details or to contact David's family.
