UCS Scarves Now Available

scarf3To support this year's Community Action, two sixth form pupils have designed a UCS scarf. The scarf is professionally produced by a company based in Surrey and will be on sale in school from Monday 16th November. The design is based on the traditional school blazer: maroon and black stripes/hoops and the school emblem is embroidered on one end. Proceeds from the sale of the scarves will be donated to the 2009 Community Action charities:

  •  Action Aid – a charity which supports people living below the poverty line in the developing world.
  •  The Great Football Giveaway – a charity which requires footballs (rather than money!) and distributes these to schools, refugee camps and areas of civil conflict in areas of Rwanda, Angola, Zambia and Uganda.
  •  Treloar Trust – a charity which supports and provides education for disabled people – both young and old.
  •  Breakthrough Breast Cancer – we will hear more about this charity tomorrow.
  •  Rays of Sunshine - a charity which provides memorable experiences to terminally ill children.
  •  The Parkinson's Disease Society – a charity which provides research funding and provides support to sufferers of the disease.
  •  Cosmic – this charity supports the paediatric intensive care unit of St Mary's hospital – a section of the hospital which treats seriously ill children.

The scarves make ideal gifts and are a great way to show support for the school whilst braving the elements at sports fixtures this winter! We envisage they will be popular amongst pupils, Old Gowers and parents.  Scarves can be purchased my mail or by phone for £11.50 each.   Please make cheques payable to University College School and mail to:  UCS School Office, Frognal, Hampstead, London NW3 6XH, or ring 020 7433 2145 to  pay by credit card.
