UCS has a thriving music department with a busy extra-curricular schedule and an excellent academic record. Many students attend the junior departments of the London music colleges and pupils regularly go on to study at Oxbridge, other leading universities and music colleges. Our concert series has over 30 events a year, from informal lunchtime concerts through to main school concerts. This allows performance opportunities from solo recitals and small chamber groups to larger school ensembles. Please click on the link for details of ensembles.
Individual instrumental tuition is offered in all of
the orchestral instruments in addition to piano, organ, guitar, drum kit and singing. Please click on the link for more information.
The school offers Music scholarships at 11+, 13+ and 16+.
The music school has a fully equipped and dedicated computer suite and large ensemble rehearsal room in addition to class teaching, instrumental teaching and practice rooms. We are also fortunate to hold many concerts in the school Great Hall, with its magnificent Walker organ. It is a venue that has been used for recordings and concerts by some of this country's leading professional ensembles.
