5 Star Performance At Colfe's

The Under 16A team hit five goals in a one sided game at Colfe's on Saturday morning. Tigerish midfield play prevented the home team making a single effort on target and after establishing a 1-0 lead at half team, UCS stepped up a gear securing a comfortable 5-0 win.

From the whistle, the UCS midfield stamped their authority on the game. Tough tackling and quick movement of the ball to the wings stretched the home team. Art Sejdiu opened the scoring after 10 minutes calmly finishing after UCS pounced on a poor goal kick. Whilst Colfe's huffed and puffed, UCS were guilty of wasting chances and possession in the final third. The front two missed gilt edged opportunities and whilst the away team had few difficulties getting the ball into good positions, the delivery from the wide areas lacked composure. UCS continued to press in the second half and their nerves were settled by a goal from Doug Carson. The full back supported the attack well and his cross/shot evaded the keepers grasp and sneaked in at the back post. Moments later, Colfe's failed to deal with a corner and the ever dangerous Tom Jordan showed quick feet to put the ball in at the back post. Karamani and Colwell continued to dominate the centre of the park and a delightful through ball from Azouz was deftly finished by Sam Lewis. Jordan, who was quiet in the opening 20 minutes, threatened to run amock down the right and it was apparent that UCS were not prepared to let the game peter out. With 10 minutes remaining on the clock, Ed Aaronson and Sam Peterson combined to produce a carbon copy of the fourth goal leaving the final score 5-0.

UCS: MacColl, Akass, Faulkner, Green, Carson, Jordan, Colwell (capt), Karamani, Azouz (Aaronson), Lewis (Peterson), Sejdiu.

The team will face a tougher test on Wednesday when they face Latymer but they were impressive throughout. Despite dominating, they maintained a good shape, kept a clean sheet and with a calmer approach in front of goal, the scoreline would have been even better!
