The Centenary Choir was founded in 2008 as part of the school’s centenary celebrations marking the move from Gower Street to Hampstead. Membership is open to students—past and present, parents—past and present, staff, friends of the school and local residents. It was decided after the very successful performance of Handel’s Messiah in April 2008 to continue to run the choir on a more regular basis.
The choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 - 9.30 during term time in the Great Hall, Frognal. Our first meeting of each term, the Wednesday of the first week of term, will begin at an earlier time of 7 pm to allow time for registration and a full rehearsal.
No audition is required but the ability to sing in tune, hold an independent part, and above all, be enthusiastic, are the only requirements.
Termly fees are £50. Reduced subscriptions for students and others on low income are available.
The choir is directed by Simon Walton, UCS Joint Acting Director of Music, and Margaret Czapor as the accompanist and rehearsal coach.
Sessions will be devoted to singing technique as well as learning individual parts for the works to be performed.

There are vacancies in all parts, although more tenors and basses would be especially welcome. Please visit the choir's website for additional information.
“Since singing is so good a thing, I wish all men would learn to sing.”
