On 11th December, two UCS pupils, Charlie Gould and Fred Isaac, will attempt to travel the entire Moscow Metro system in a day. The group have completed similar challenges using the London Underground and the Paris Metro, but this is their most ambitious challenge yet.
The Moscow Metro which spans almost the entire Russian capital, is the world's second most heavily used rapid-transit system. Led by Andrew Wilkes, the trip will involve travelling 292 km and making 117 stops with an expected temperature of -40˚ C.
During their past two attempts, the group have raised nearly £5,000 for charity as part of UCS Community Action. This year all funds raised will directly benefit the Parkinson's Disease Society,
UCS Community Action is an annual programme of events, challenges and fundraising. In 2008, UCS pupils raised over £15,000 for various charities.
